B Raghavendra Rao26 August 2023 My father B Sheshagiri Rao was diagnosed with advanced dementia six months ago. After consultation with a neurologist, general physician and the doctors in our family we realized the need for physiotherapy and occupational therapy for him which will slow down the further deterioration, apart from the professional help and prescribed dementia medicines. I came to know about NIKISA DV through a close relative and visited the place. I visited the Centre and spoke to Mr Kiran and Ms Moumita. They spent hours explaining the nature of the disease, the measures taken by them to take care of patients and the pattern of life followed there. Their policy of the family member to stay for a couple of days with the patient and the caretaker to make the admission as well as transition process smooth proved the concern they have towards the patient. After the interaction with them, I was impressed immensely by their policies and approach towards the patients. Now It is three months since he was admitted there and am highly satisfied with the way he is taken care of. I should mention at this point about Dr Kavitha who could see the pain in us leaving him and the way she consoled us is worth mentioning. She could empathize with us and counselled us regarding the need for professional help in his case. A man who used to be in bed for at least 18 hours a day and who was making a lot of fuss to eat is now spending considerably more time on physical activities like physiotherapy, walking ( walking almost 1.5 km a day)etc. Even his quantity of intake has improved which I observed when he was brought home for a couple of days. Every day I get videos of him and every month his blood and urine test results. He is given proper medication in case of any other health issues and I am informed about that. The presence of a 24/7 caretaker (special mention to Mr Manju who is very loving and caring), a balanced diet food with a lot of vegetables and fruits, the well maintained personal hygiene, physical activities, periodical health checkups, the timely intervention of general physician and psychiatrist ( which was a Herculean task especially for a 92 years old patient who lost the vision due to dementia) and the care given by other staff members have improved his quality of life which wouldn’t have been possible if he was staying at home. I not only appreciate the team NIKISA but also thank them sincerely for all the time and effort they put into this task, which everyone who has dealt with dementia patient agree, is not at all easy. I also appreciate the effort taken by Dr. Subramaniam to talk to the primary caretaker every month to get feedback and suggestions which shows their commitment, Consideration and dedication. He has proven himself as a great leader by running the centre very meticulously. NIKISA is a home away from home and thanks a lot to the entire crew. Vasudha Anantha9 April 2023 It's a home away from home for the elders troubled with mental health issues. We as a family are content that appa is being looked after well in the most serene of surroundings. The 'seva mano bhava' or service with compassion is seen everywhere. We are lucky to have found Nikisa for our appa. Our blessings to the founders and kudos for the involved care shown. Miguel Rivera9 February 2023 I am a psychiatrist in practice with dementia patients exclusively. I can truly say that I have never met a more dedicated and sincere family as the Kiran family. I recommend them wholeheartedly and would not hesitate to trust my family member with their care. Shriya Sundaram24 January 2023 It’s been more than 4 months now since my father is under the care of Nikisa and I am very satisfied with the services provided. For eg, it was his birthday celebration and it was really nice to see the way it was celebrated with so much joy. His personal needs have been taken care of-in terms of personal hygiene, eating etc and it is worth mentioning that every staff member-from Kiran, to Momita to the ground staff and the doctors who take care of his daily needs are very approachable. If I have any concerns, I know I just need to contact the team without thinking twice and the matter will be looked into. I have to confess, I was extremely apprehensive in the beginning but I am much more at ease now knowing he is in good hands and he is being well taken care of and his medical needs are being met. Haritha Venkatesh18 December 2022 I admitted my dad at Nikisa in September. He is 81 years old and visually impaired. His dementia progressed to a stage where home care had become challenging. I tried caregivers, but unfortunately it was not working out. He started having sun dawning issues, hallucinations, disorientation, agitation and wandering. I was desperately looking for professional help and came across Nikisa. I must have called late night around 10:30 pm, and Mr. Subramaya responded and spoke to me in detail. His knowledge, awareness and confident voice gave me so much reassurance that I decided to admit my dad. Later, Kiran helped me come out of my moments of despair. I was not able to go to Nikisa in person, so he sent me pictures, videos and gave me detailed description of this beautiful village. I stayed with my dad for three days and was completely awestruck by how professional and competent the team is. The place is clean, quiet and green. Vegetarian food is just perfect. I receive monthly diagnostic reports and the treatment he is on. Moumita is absolutely amazing, always there to pick my call and give solutions. The doctors here are very kind, compassionate and noted my dad’s past history and is providing treatment that is proven the best. With the incredible support of the entire team, my dad is much calmer now. He is unable to express in as many words, but I can see that he is happy. I get to see my dad everyday, thanks to Mr. Subramanya’s daily videos. I love my dad, so this was the most difficult decision I’ve had to take till date. I initially felt very guilty and tears just pooled in corner of my eyes. Now I feel I have made the right decision, knowing my dad is in good hands. Huge gratitude to the entire team of Nikisa. Vinodhini Neelakantan1 December 2022 I got my Dad Mr S Neelakantan 78yrs admitted here in August as he was diagnosed with Parkinsons and Alzimer early stages. But he was not able to handle anything on his own he needed 24hrs help, I was really glad to find this place first and after being admitted I can see the amount of care taken for the in patients. It is really wonderful service that they provide and glad that they are present in Bangalore. My dad is quite happy with their services (food, hygiene,Physiotherapy) Dr Ms Girish18 September 2022 A message of thanksgiving: Sorry for the delay in responding but I am sure you can understand the duties that had been thrust upon me in the wake of my father’s demise.A big salute to your professionalism, expertise, forbearance and consummate skill sets in looking after my father and many more in your establishment, making them feel comfortable in their “end of the road” condition manageable and bestowing dignity & meaning to an otherwise unsolvable ailment. On gleaning through the videos sent by you and few recorded by me,I realised how difficult it is for one to achieve a state of equilibrium and stability of sorts, with such patients. My family and me,consumed by enormous amounts of guilt & low morale, could sense the empowering and enabling efforts of your establishment in not only providing care and comfort to D&A patients, but in the process, assuaging and mitigating our gut-wrenching plight, feeling hopelessly low & crestfallen.May your establishment rise to stratospheric heights in leaving a high water mark in the field of dementia and Alzheimer care.Greatly thankful to your services rendered.Namaste! Uma Rao17 August 2022 We admitted our father at Nikisa in February. We were worried and apprehensive about it. However, after six months i want to say we are extremely happy with the care given to him. We could not have given this care at home. Starting from the ambience, food and environment, everything is very good. The attending staff are very well mannered and above all compassionate. There is a set routine, that has helped my father. The managers are extremely coperative. Information about my father's condition is shared everyday. Recently, he had a medical emergency. Taking our consent, they managed to get him treated without our presence, for which i am grateful. Dr. Subramanya has provided a platform for elderly dementia patients to be treated and cared, that's one of is kind. Thanks to all at Nikisa for the work they are doing. TIRTHARUP BHATTACHARJEE15 August 2022 We are very much satisfied with the kind of care and affection our mother is getting at Nikisa. We highly appreciate and are obliged to the team Nikisa for the their continuous effort because of which my mother has got another life which we could not have provided at home. From liquid food she has taking solid food. Water intake has got changed from Syringe to Glass. This is phenomenal and was possible because of Nikisa
